What Is NoCacheUserGroup?

One of the features of Accelerator for SPS 2001 that is not exposed in the Administrative interface or in the documentation is the ability to defined an NT Group or User for which Accelerator caching will never occur.  In the Accelerator configuration file, found in <installdir>\Accelerator.config (typically c:\program files\metolius\accelerator\Accelerator.config), you'll find an entry as follows:

<add key="Metolius.Accelerator.NoCacheUserGroup" value="" />

This configuration parameter is what you will use to set up this feature.  As shipped, the default setting for this parameter is empty, or no groups or users are defined to be non-Accelerator-cacheable.  To change this, you can follow this procedure:

  1. Define or select an NT User group or User for whom you would like Accelerator not to apply.  For this example, we'll assume a group called:. "NeverCachedGroup".

  2. Using a text editor such as Notepad, edit the config file XML such that the NT Group or User is associated with the NoCacheUserGroup parameter.  For example:  <add key="Metolius.Accelerator.NoCacheUserGroup" value="NeverCachedGroup" />.  Be careful to preserve the remaining portion of the configuration file as it was.  Save the file.

  3. You may want to flush the Accelerator cache (see Admin documentation for instructions), although it is not required.

Note:  Only Administrators can view or edit the Accelerator.config file.
